I will try to get to that later.<br /><br />That electromagnetism is SU(2) at high energy energy is an interesting possibility. The EW interaction is then SU(2)_w x SU(2)_em at high energy. The interactions with fermions are as you say and one has to do some creative work with the Gel-Mann Nishijima formula for hypercharge. At low energy the center of the SU(2)_em breaks into U(1). <br /><br />This is a variation of the Pati-Salaam model. I did some work along these lines back in the 90s. I am not sure there is any experimental evidence for this.
